A stunning residence in Regent’s Park, known as The Holme, has been sold for £139 million, marking one of London’s largest property transactions. This extraordinary property, previously associated with Saudi royalty, spans four acres of private gardens in central London and offers a rare glimpse into stately living amidst a bustling city.
The buyer, a UK subsidiary of the corporate services firm Zedra, has not been publicly identified. Zedra, known for managing trusts for various clients, facilitated the purchase through its Luxembourg-based entity, according to corporate filings.
This sale rivals the £138 million acquisition of Aberconway House in Mayfair, placing The Holme among London’s most expensive homes. Originally acquired in 1991 on behalf of Saudi Prince Khaled bin Sultan al-Saud, the property was later listed for as high as £250 million before its debts led to receivership.
Described as a “mini stately home” by property experts, The Holme features a timeless architectural design and is one of only a few private residences in Regent’s Park. Its privileged neighbors include the US ambassador’s residence.
While the UK has introduced regulations to enhance property ownership transparency, critics point out loopholes allowing some owners to remain anonymous through trusts. Proposed updates to these rules, expected to take effect this year, aim to provide more public access to trust information.
Sold in December by Trinity Investments, the property will likely require substantial renovations due to its heritage status. With its historical significance and unparalleled location, The Holme stands as a symbol of London’s luxury property market.
